Often families who are eager to adopt have questions about whether or not adoption is something they can afford. There is good news for families who have questions or concerns about the cost of adoption in New Jersey. A Subsidy Program is available that helps families in New Jersey with their adoption plans. This program applies to many children in the foster care system; and may include older adoptive children, children with severe behavioral or emotional needs, and can often be obtained for children adopted from other states by a family in New Jersey. Some of the features of the New Jersey Subsidy Program include a Medicaid card for health expenses and/or a monthly stipend for extraordinary medical or other expenses. Included is a specific description of what the Subsidy
Program is, who it applies to, and how
it can be used. We encourage you to
obtain a
copy of this document and use it as a guide for
your future needs. You
can also contact
your local DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services)office,
or a local adoption agency
that specializes in placing special needs children
