This group is for
adoptive parents and their children. Whether you're wondering how to develop
successful and effective parenting skills, curious about discipline and
setting limits, not sure you are doing all you can to nurture and support
your child's social, emotional, and cognitive development, or trying to make
a decision about returning to work or balancing other activities in your
life-this group is for you. While the adults learn, laugh, and share the daily joys and challenges of being a parent through adoption, your children have a peer play group of their own. $12 per adult, $8 per child, per session. |

This training for
adoption professionals introduces the challenges parents and kids face as
children become learners in the school system. Children adopted from abroad
may start out with simple developmental delays that appear to resolve which
may hen evolve into school challenges. There are critical challenge points
where kids are expected to step up to attend and focus in a classroom
setting. There areexpectations for children to organize their thoughts, to problem solve, and practice their learning as they do homework. How can professionals help parents advocate for their children in the school system so that the child can be successful? |
